This mysterious "28" was/is Bob Evelyn's second design---a Pointin' 29. The boat was intended as a Maxi-MORC racer. It is 28'6" with a 12"3" beam and draws 5'3". Pretty heavy by today's standards but FAST upwind in a blow and a real hoot downwind in heavy air. Not for the faint of heart with that pinched-in transom. Loves to round up! I will try to download a photo of my 29 ("Pamela"). There will be a technical delay while I learn how to do it! (Luddite).
That "cat" version of the 29 in the ad looks to be a real abortion.
Re discussing Bob's racing the 24 down in Texas in the Quarter-tons, I find it impossible to believe that he cut a foot of the BEAM---with a chainsaw. Could have done that to TRANSOM maybe, but that would lead to structural problems, if done out in the parking-lot, as it were. Sounds apocryphal to me.
