Bow deck support, 'knees'

Postby Pterobyte » Sat Feb 14, 2009 8:02 am

I am really intrigued by the way your bulkheads and support "knees" tie in
to the deck and coach roof...that is a totally different build style than
any other 32-2 I've been on...I guess it being Hull #1, they found another
way to build 'em after number 1, without configuring that stuff into the
structure. I wonder what your weight is compared to later builds?

I get this a lot. Here is what I know.

These ribs were added by a previous owner within the last 5 years. They are carbon cloth formed into a tube shape and glassed in. The foredeck is real solid as a consequence. They do not intersect with the staunchens so I will be adding something for that as well.

The bulk head tie in is a little more fuzzy. It appears to be after market but I can't tell. The renforcement is hollow and run from the chain plates up the deck, splits to go around the mast. Anybody else have these?

I don't know what the boat weight is. I'll have to find a way to get weighed.
