Things One Finds

Postby darkstar32170 » Mon May 04, 2009 3:55 pm

I was at my local marine consignment store this past weekend and found this sitting on the sidewalk out front. Everyone should recognize it. I suspect I know where it came from. Anyone want a spare bow pulpit? I might if the price is right.

Though I didn't measure it, it looks like the core in this deck is thicker than the deck core on my boat. My core is 1/2" thick and is a Formula Yachts built boat. This is a C&C build and looks thicker. I'll go back and check when I get a chance.

NICE find! I'm thinking it's part of what used to be "Good Sons?"

That's my guess - its either the remains of "Good Son" or "Full Tilt" since they are combining the two. I know that Full Tilt sat out in the weather for quite a few years. It used to be moored out in front of Ida Lewis Yacht Club (Newport, RI) back in the 80's but I don't think its been in the water since the late 80's. There's a photo on the E32-2 website of a keel with a bulb on the bottom. The last time I saw "Full Tilt" (in the Conanicut Marine yard in Jamestown, RI) it had a similar keel modification - though I don't think that its the keel in the photo (it could be though).

What I'm really intrigued about it why this much of the boat was discarded. The exposed core did not seem that bad. I'm wondering if there's going to be a bowsprit on the new boat. "Inquiring minds want to know."

That is a very "interesting" picture. Actually it leads me off the subject a bit...
Has anybody ever had to reinforce the forpeak, specifically where the forstay connects to the deck? Me being the constant tweaker, I just wondered if that has ever been a source of weakness for any boat? Just trying to figure out what will be the next thing to break!

sort of off-topic, but I was searching for some specs on some boat or another over the weekend and found this website:

http://www.sailboatdata.com/firstpage.asp

pretty neat website but,
Imagine my surprise when I turned to page 85, where the E 32-2 is listed. That boat is now "Bluto."

I took the pick of the keel at cananicut and can confirm it is (was) full tilt.

I can sure use a new pulpit. Mine is pretty battle scared and repaired once or twice and looks rather ragged...

Pterobyte: If you want I'll find out how much they want for it. If its in your ballpark we can get it shipped to you. Interested? I was going to check anyway. It wouldn''t be bad to have a spare if the price was right. The only other useful part is the stemhead (unless someone needs some straight slotted toerail - my boat has T-track for the toerail). They're not open on Mondays so I'll have to do it Tuesday if you're interested.

Bow is off 'Full Tilt it has been sold. stern pushpits plus 8 nice lightweight stanchons are still at Marine Consignment of Wickford

Full tilt is no more "Good Sons" will become a complete Eve 32 again soon. I will continue to work on it but would consider selling the whole project
