Mast position

Postby Motorboat!! » Thu Oct 11, 2012 12:15 pm

Well, time to revisit the rig tuning again! It's finally time to lengthen my headstay, which I will probably just to by adding a pair of stainless tangs to the headstay. When experimenting with the headstay length yesterday I realized that I can't get any more rake in my mast without inducing some prebend. I am blocked all the way forward at the base and all the way back at the deck. To get anymore plain rake, I would have to do structural modifications to one of the locations. Has anybody had to to this, or do you just live with the prebend that comes along with the rake?

Maybe I should restate my problem. The only way for me to get my head stay to the proper length and rake the mast without over ending it is to either cut out the partners toward the back 1-2 inches and or extend the mast base forward 3-4 inches. Anybody have experience with this
