We have a meeting this weekend to discuss it. We are leaning towards trying to make it.

My crew was pretty insistent that we make CRW this year. Of course they were pretty jazzed by the win we had this weekend on race #1 of the Lake Norman Icicle Series. I looks like we have a plan and we are all looking forward to on being there.

Any other Evelyns? I know a 26 that would really like to go but he will need crew.

Man I would love to crew for somebody, I aint been back to Chuckston for a couple years and I love the place. Unforch, a meeting on the 24th of that month is going to put a serious hurt on any plans to go to CRW. To rub salt in the wound, my daughter just sent me a 50% off Groupon for CHR&M http://charlestonharborreso-px.trvlclick.com/.

I need to retire or something.

We are on for being there too. David, where are you going to put in? This is my first time to Charleston and I don't know the lay of the land.

Ptero, we took the boat down on her own bottom when we were there, but most of the big boats put in at Pierside, which is up the river (Cooper) a bit at the Old Navy Yard in N.Charleston. Charleston City Boatyard is way up a creek in Mt. Pleasant I think it is most stinkpots and there is not a lot of water up there at low tide. I don't know what's over on the west side of town (Ashley River side), it's kind of shallow over there and I'm not sure there are travel lift services anywhere closer than Pierside. Lots of info on older SA threads and you can always PM Mr.Clean...and folks on the CRW website.

CHR&M is where the party is (unless things have changed a lot this year) and where most people keep boats. Prepare for a long walk from the parking lot to the boat though!

We rented a house on Isle of Palms (pleasant 10-12 minute drive to the marina)....house for 7- 8 cost about 300 per person which was very manageable and we did some redecorating so that everyone pretty much had their own room (using cots and couches and stuff). Also cheaper than CHR&M is the Hampton Inn just over the bridge in Mt Pleasant...about half the rate of CHR&M and a decent breakfast, clean and quiet, a short walk to the bridge (you can walk over the bridge, very fun thing to do) and a few minute bike ride to the marina. Also close to Whole Foods and you can provision the boat's lunch with a quick stop in there b4 you head to the marina. Charleston is restaurant heaven, but one of our faves in the Red Drum (Gastropub) in Mt. P...pricey but they will treat you right. Rent fat tire bikes at Mike's Bikes on Coleman Blvd...15 bucks a day, cant beat it.

We had eveything from NW 15-25 on practice day (thurs...had an M.O.B. in fact) to a more civilized 8-12 racing offshore to an abandonment (last day) winds 25-40...peak gust on Sullivans was 62 mph when I left on Sunday!!! Good call RC!

Great place, a terrific town and I envy y'all going down there (or coming up from the SouthLands ;-) pic of the hike to the boat, below

We have a reservation at Pierside for launch and hoist. They are very efficient however the issue there is that they will only pull 12 boats out on Sunday and it's first come first serve. It also costs more than a Monday pull-out. We docked at the city docks last time, but are rethinking that plan. We have a house reservation on Sullivan's Is. Last time We stayed on Folly Beach. Prices are about the same. Give me a call sometime and I can give you an update on our evolving plan.

This sounds like a lot of fun, and I wish I could be there. Certainly seems to be more organized than the past KWRW's i have done. Maybe someday I can make it up there. Is there going to be a decent class?

There are 38 PHRF boats plus all the one designs. 139 boats signed up so far. Last year they had 280. I suspect there will be that many or more this year.

Two Evelyn 32-2 signed up. We need 3 more to get a start.

We are up to 218 boats entered. PHRF is so big the two Evelyn 32's that have entered so far are in PHRF E. Look like they split just to keep the E's togther making them the scratch boat in the fleet. 4 J29's are in our fleet including the Mighty Puffin, last years overall winner.

David, any bites from any more Lake Erie boats for CRW ? Gonna be fun!

I see they have a J-130 registered sail # USA 1300. I think that is the old boat I used to sail on here. It was painted black, and was a hurricane katrina victim. Guess it was rebuilt. Just a little side note.

One week to go for CRW. Can't wait. 259 boats registered. E32-2's are in fleet F with 10 boats phrf 96 to 126. What will the weather be? We are off shore, are tides and currents an issue?
