SCREWPILE 2009

Postby admin » Fri Sep 19, 2008 3:03 pm

okay, this is a little early, but it's never too early to start talking about Screwpile.

How about Pterobyte and Leeanne coming to Solomons to race against those Olsons and try to get the Hobies in the same class? That would be some decent like-boat racing!

Think about it...mid July, 2009, Solomons I.

maybe lobby Bloody Hell, Cheap Trick and White Lightning to come down from NJ amd NY? Connecticut, R.I. and Ohio boats?

Anyone wanna buy Remedy?

I'll mention it to Kenny Saylor (North Sails) and original owner during Annapolis boat show in 3 weeks. I have delivery and crew issues for anything like that -- hard for my crew to take time off from work and family obligations (other than local Wed night racing).

Race down (EYC Solomons Invite) Friday Night and only need to deliver back to Round Bay!

Give me a shout if you need any crew.

Same here, Al...I've done Screwpile on a bunch of boats since we took Direwolf down to race against Terry and haven't had as much fun since then (whatever year that was...2003??) and I would love to go against Ptero and the Olsons, assuming the O-boats dont try to get a One-D start next year.

Can help with delivery and/or the Eastpuertorican Race!!! Either or both ways!

Think about it man, it would be EPIC!

Pterodactyl at Screwpile?

Postby Pterobyte » Tue Jan 13, 2009 1:03 pm

Rumor has that Pterodactyl 42', may make an appearance at Screwpile. I hope that is true.

Any other 32-2 commit yet? Also there is Black Seal/SBRW in Hampton before that and down the bay. Can we get some more boats down here for some summer racing??

After looking at some of the 32's out there buying "Remedy" would be the way to go... WAY too much work to fix them up right.
Screwpile sounds like fun, I've never done it before. The Hobies & Olsons won't be happy if a well sorted 32 shows up...!

Ok, it is not early anymore. Any Evelyn 32's besides Pterobyte making it to Screwpile this year?

I heard from Pterodactyl, e42, and Gene is not entering.

We need more E32's at this event. Please come out and play in our pond!

The boat looks great. Have you raced her?
We had three Evelyn's on the line for a ECSA race in early June. It was nice to race against each other. XLR8 (old Remedy) is still the boat to beat. We are hoping to get 5 on the line for some regattas in July.

Thanks! I have not raced her since the rebuild. Her first race as a new boat will be Lukiema Cup July 11/12.

If I sail up there do I have to use my 96 CBYRA rating against your 100-101, EXR8-Flatline, ratings WITH ASYMMETRICALs ???

I can't make it up to Connecticut this July. But you guys would hand me stern and send me home with my rudder between my legs anyway. I think this boat is fast, now, but we are still building the crew. Keep me posted on events. I would love to plan a trip up to sailing mecca as soon as I can.

Wow that looks amazing! Are you going to dry sail it? I also like that hatch cover, where do I get me one of those with the logo on it?

Also, do you know what kind of outboard bracket that is (Make & model), and what the vertical travel on it is? I am looking to replace mine with something like that.

I am an inboard with a 151% jib, longer E main, and rate 101. I used to be 96 before I did an inboard and bigger main. XLR8 has a 155% jib, longer E main, and rates 100. There is a boat Scorpion that we raced against which is an OB which rates 93, they have a 3 second hit because they sail with an oversize spin. Your base rating will probably be 96. We don't get a hit for Asyms. I have one and I know XLR8 has one. I don't use mine in anything over 8 knots. It would be nice to organize the Evelyn's to Race Block Island race week for 2011.
Good luck racing in July. I am still learning my boat. The tuning is what took me a while to get worked out. John Fries helped me a lot with the set up and sails. I have noticed drastic changes this year with my pointing and boat speed relative to other competitors.

I didn't realize there was a race this weekend. I didn't see it listed on the ECSA site. I will see if I can round the crew up.
